     The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet provides the history record of motor vehicles for the public upon request.  This information can be obtained by submitting the required form "Request for Motor Vehicle Record Which Includes Personal Information: (TC96-16).  This may be obtained from your local County Clerk's Office or the cabinet's Division of Motor Vehicle Licensing.  For a modest processing fee of $2, the division can provide copies of transfer documents to clarify issues of odometer discrepancies, transfer dates, owner information, salvage information, signature verifications and/or to correct any errors that may appear on Kentucky titles.  Each request form must be properly completed and include the $2 fee.  Requests are processed in approximately 5 to 10 business days.

Speed Titles:  You may apply for a speed title at your local County Clerk's Office.  You cannot apply for this at the Division of Motor Vehicle Licensing in Frankfort.  A speed title allows you to either have it mailed to you the following business day or available for pick up on the second business day after it has been applied for.  Please call before coming to Frankfort to pick up your title (502) 564-2737.  Please have your title number and vehicle identification number (vin) or license plate number available when calling.  The fee for a speed title is $25.
     NOTE:  A speed title cannot be done on the following:  boats, Debtor in Possession, Towing & Storage, Affidavit or Ownership or Bill of Sale, Correction, Restored Title, Out-of-Country, Court Order, KY ID, Salvage title from "junk or rebuildable", or Kit vehicle.

Duplicate Titles:  If you have misplaced your title, you can apply for a duplicate at your County Clerk's Office.  Duplicate titles are usually printed and mailed out the following business day.  These cannot be picked up in Frankfort.  The fee for a duplicate title is $8.

Personalized Plates:  You must apply for personalized plates through your local County Clerk's Office in the county in which you reside.  The fee for this is $25, payable when you register the plate to your vehicle.
